Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine: Authentic Caribbean Flavors in Portland

I mean, it was so good I forgot to take a picture. Food was extra good. Spring for the pineapple sof drink. Bring your own water. Brown chicken mild enough for kids. Baby ate festivals. I also liked that my table smelled like bleach after the gentleman wiped it down.

Since the last time I visited, I'm glad to note that they seem much busier now! The food took a while to get to us and it was worth the wait, well, except the very oily soggy fried plantains. The kind Ghanaian gentleman was happy to see us again and the food was delicious with reasonably sized portions. I enjoyed the sparkling grapefruit with jerk chicken and rice. I highly recommend this spot, whenever you want a likkle taste of d island.

Outstanding Jamaican cuisine and very cool humans. And they have Ting! Vegan platter also available which isn't always the case at a Jamaican restaurant. *Update - came back today for the Shrimp in Coconut Sauce (requested mild-medium spice) over rice and peas and it was delish!

It’s unfortunate to see the negative reviews. My experience was awesome. I had no plans of stopping here. I was just driving by and I could smell the distinct 100% lump charcoal smell flowing from that barbecue. I pulled a U-turn and stopped for lunch. I got the chicken curry size large $15.99 Photo of my food is attached. The curry was out of this world. So rich and full of flavor and spices. The chicken was falling off the bone, tender and absolutely slathered with that curry sauce. The rice was done to perfection and the cabbage was boiled perfectly… not too soft and not too firm. I had to soak it in all that curry to make it even better. I had a nice chat with the guy rock-in the barbecue. I believe there’s one other person in back working as well. He was nice enough to let me have my dog in the outside seating area as long as no one else was around. But as other customers arrived we ate our meal in the car. It wasn’t good enough that I would make it a destination to come back. But if I was in the neighborhood, I would definitely recommend it for lunch.

I ordered through door dash. This is not my first time trying their delicious meals. It was delicious as expected and service was prompt. Food arrived warm and edible, but my jerk chicken was high on the salt. Delicious, but kindly consider us with the low-salt diet. Thank you.

Took my beautiful wife here for a quick bite. The jerk wings, festival and cabbage were hot and spiced perfectly. Great service and vibe. 10/10 Highly recommend if in the Portland Oregon area

Got four honkin’, deliciously spicy whole jerk wings last night from this place (sorry for the missing one in the photo; I dug in immediately)! It was $16, but you’re getting the equivalent of eight standard wings. I didn’t go for the fried cornmeal festival balls but will be when I go back. They tried to tack on some cabbage I didn’t order, but it was just a misunderstanding over the phone. Based on the wings, I have to assume all the other dishes here are probably good. It ain’t cheap, but the food is good. Glad I stopped off here after passing by it for years!

The food is delicious it was fresh and hot great seasoning this sistah can cook! I love her spirit and the ambiance of the place was on point with great music to listen to as you dine. Look at my before and after pic nothing left but the bones.....the oxtails with red beans and rice with cabbage made you wanna SLAP YO MAMA! LOL.
